About Our Church

Who We Are

The members and friends of DuPont Community Presbyterian Church invite you to visit our services and activities. We seek to be a loving community who welcomes everyone who comes through our doors in search of spiritual, physical, and emotional encouragement. Our focus is Christ-centered, our beliefs are grounded in the Bible, and our mission is to share the truth of Jesus and His saving work on the cross with others. Our purpose within the church is to develop people's spiritual maturity to love God more deeply, love one another in Christ-like ways, and to equip our congregation for meaningful ministry.

DuPont Community Presbyterian Church seeks to serve all who live in the greater DuPont area including the Village and Northwest Landing; Lacey, Steilacoom, Lakewood or Olympia. We also have a long history of serving military families and welcome all who are stationed at Fort Lewis/McCord, no matter how brief your stay in the area.

About the Presbyterian Church

God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose again that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.

As Presbyterians we are all connected by a long heritage of what is known as "Reformed Theology" that orginated during the Reformation of the 1500's in Scotland, with a strong belief that we are saved by faith alone in Christ's finished work on the cross (rather than earning our own way to God) and by grace alone (God's undeserved favor). We are secure in God's sovereignty (His ultimate rule) and view the Bible as our foundation for teaching, doctrine and practice. Presbyterians are also known as a "creedal" church in that we affirm the early creeds as valuable tools to summarize our core beliefs as taught in scripture. Although the church has birthed several different denominations from its Reformed roots, the largest by far has been the PCUSA.

However, over the past twenty years our previous denomination (the PCUSA) has veered from its moorings, away from well-tested herminuitical interpretations of scripture, our original Book of Order and our long-held Confessions. We have recently completed the process of leaving the PCUSA and an the verge of transferring to the country's fastest growing Presbyterian denomination, the Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians (ECO). Here is a link to explore more about our new denomination: ECO-pres.org

Our church in DuPont continues to affirm the reliability and authority of scripture in ways that have guided Reformed-minded churches for centuries. We also embrace what are known as the "orthodox" teachings of the Bible regarding the main tenants of Christianity, including the triune nature of God [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] and the essential work of Christ's atonement  for our salvation.

We welcome anyone who wishes to enjoy our fellowship, no matter their background, race, or beliefs. We are a warm church who seeks to demonstrate the love, acceptance, and forgiveness of Christ.

May 14, 2021

Due to the COVID-19 virus concerns, we have decided to close on-site church activities for the next few weeks. Pastor Dan will still be recording inspiring messages and putting them on our website under: Sermons: This Week. Feel free to call or email Pastor Dan if you have any special needs.

When we start up again, you are invited tojoin us for Sunday morning worship at 10:30 a.m.. The Children's Message will be around 10:50, followed by Sunday School downstairs. We also have a nursery available during the entire service for children under age 3. To learn more about our Children's Ministry, see Children's Programs.

Bible Study will be suspended for the next few weeks, but will start up again when it is safe and prudent to do so. Our intent was to continue through the end of May, from 7:00 to 8:30. Hopefully those of you who normally attend can continue to study at home. Pastor Dan has been leading us in studying the book of James.
